Nomination for Historic District

Invitation to Greenwich Historic District Informational Meeting, 12 October 2021, 7:00 pm

Over the past two years, an update to the Greenwich Historic District National Register Nomination has been in progress.  The revised Nomination is now ready to be presented to the New Jersey State Review Board for Historic Sites, which will take place at their next meeting on 18 November 2021.

To inform you of the changes to the current nomination and share the expanded significance of the district that has arisen out of many hours of research, the Land Use Board will host a virtual informational meeting on Tuesday, 12 October 2021, at 7:00 p.m.

Joan Berkey, the consultant who has researched and written the Nomination, will present some of her findings about the district’s history, her conclusions about its significance, and decisions for minor changes to the district’s boundaries.  Andrea Tingey, Principal Historic Preservation Specialist at the New Jersey State Historic Preservation Office, will explain the rights of property owners and the benefits of a New Jersey and National Register listing.  Following the presentations, there will be an opportunity for questions and answers.
